How do you play Spades?
Spades is played by four players in two teams with a 52-card deck: partners sit opposite each other. Spades are always trump. Everyone bids how many tricks they will take and partners’ bids add up to the team contract. Make it and you score; the first team to reach the target (250 or 500) wins.
How to play Spades: full guide- 1Everyone gets 13 cards. Nobody picks trumps: in every deal spades (♠) are trump.
- 2Bidding: everyone bids once, in turn, how many tricks they will take (0–13); there is no auction and no passing. Partners’ bids add up to the team contract. A bid of 0 is NIL: you promise to take no tricks.
- 3You must follow suit; without it you may play any card, and trumping with a spade is optional. There is no obligation to beat the highest card or to trump.
- 4Spades cannot be led until they are broken (unless you only have spades left). The highest spade wins the trick; with no spade, the highest card of the led suit.
- 5A team that makes its contract scores contract × 10 plus 1 point per extra trick (bag); a team that fails loses contract × 10. Every 10 bags cost 100. NIL made: +100, broken: −100.

What is Spades?
Spades is a trick-taking card game for two teams of two. Spades are always trump, everyone bids once how many tricks they will take and points go to the team. Unlike Batak, there is no obligation to beat the highest card or to trump.

What is a NIL bid?
Bidding 0: you promise to take no tricks in that deal. Made, your team gets +100; take even one trick and it is −100. A NIL bid does not count toward the team contract.
What are bags?
Every trick above the contract is a bag worth 1 point. When a team collects 10 bags it loses 100 points, so making your contract exactly is best.
When does the match end?
The table creator chooses the target: 250 or 500 (500 by default). The team that reaches it at the end of a deal wins; a team that falls to −200 loses.
